I believe my approach to each photography assignment is tempered by my past experience as a graphic designer and a will to solve a visual problem. Clients usually call me when they have a story to illustrate but don't quite know how to produce it; especially a subject more elusive in character, such as a service, idea or concept.
A while back, my images were usually of an inanimate object (or objects) combined with other elements to create some kind of ethereal effect. Occasionally, one of these elements would be a hand, or a foot. Over the years, the imagery has evolved into something more of the opposite: a person in an environment with surreal things going on. But it's such a great opportunity to shoot a portrait without the use all of those bells and whistles. Most of the work on this site has some commercial or editorial application. An example of some portraits with a more intimate, less "surreal" quality to them can be viewed, here.
